Taking advantage of bright overcast conditions, I shot some stuff around the local wharf on the Hastings River. I like such forgiving light for B&W work and its quality is apparent in the nice tones in the chrome plated bicycle. I would have liked more room on the left of the frame but it was very untidy on that side. SHould I crop even tighter for a better effect? Perhaps cutting off parts of the bicycle tyres?

I like the compo and the conversion too.

Considering that this is a verticle composition, I don't see the need for more on the left. I like it the way it is and would not cut off the bicycle in any way. Good job!

A excellent composition and conversion. Beautiful light. I like it the way it is and would not crop out any of the bike.

Thanks, everyone...

for your comments. I think the composition is OK but predictable. Was wondering if anyone could see better options for it. Perhaps not. At least your thoughts have confirmed the way I saw it in the first place.

nice

I can't think of any way to improve this: it's a triangular composition with the post, and changing that would require something drastic.

Very nice shot and composition. Its hard to see how it could have been improved. If in another similar situation I think I would be tempted to go up to iso 400 so as to get better dof with reasonable shutter speed, for this kind of shot and seeing as a b/w conversion suits the subject that should be ok? Nice one though.
