A Japanese friend and fellow refugee from the 60s.
After living in NYC for many years where they worked with recycling and art, Jun and his wife Mikusa returned to Japan last year and are now live-in caretakers for the Makisato Lab ( http://makisato.exblog.jp/m2005-03-01/), an art cooperative here in Fujino. A jack-of-all-trades with multifarous talents, Jun introduced us a few weeks ago to another new yorker, John Carlin (www.johncarlinmusic.com), who came and visited for a week.

I like this as a portrait or documentary photo. Grat composition and color. I like the neutral look on the man's face, which pushes it towards a documentary photo for me. Good work!

Avery nice exposure. The dappled light is great and he has a very interesting face.

An impressive ...
portrai. The develpment is very well, with delicious colors also in the shadow. The vertical bambus and the diagonal shadows works well.

Norm, an excellent portrait/documentary picture. The lack of expression in his face seems to give expression to his personality and like John I feel that he has seen it all. The color and detail is lovely and I love the light. I also like the straw hat with the bamboo in the background.

This is a very effective
lighting situation, Norm. The image seems to move while I look at it.

Thanks
Speaking of previsualization, when Jun first invited us to sit under that bamboo "gazebo", I knew that the lighting and shadows cast on the bamboo would be perfect for what he was wearing, and his personality. I'm glad others saw it, too.
