One of all
As Iīm waiting for my 7-14 (seems to be some delivery trouble by olympus) I try this vertical pano. Itīs maybe technically not well (shot out of hand without tripod) and the distance to the object may be also critical for technically perfection. But I believe itīs a nice try to show a tree from this angel in full dimension, isnīt it?

It is a nice try Horst. What software did you use to this? I just had a friend showing me how to do it with photomerge in PSCS with amazing results... he did point out that it may be better to try with longer focal lengths and so avoid the distortion that the shorther ones give. Myabe that would have helped here. Nonetheless I do like it, and makes me think of similar techniques myself.
Best wishes- Andy

Interesting photo
Looks OK to me, Horst, though I'm not a fan of extreme vertical panos. I think you've made it difficult to appreciate because it's too big even for my monitor (running at 1600x1200 pixels). I like the foreground pool of light.

good one. well done. i tried several times a (architectural) vertical pano without luck. who wonders: without tripod and panohead its nearly impossible to shoot architectural panos. will try it with more seriousness next...

I think you captured it well, but as Rob said it is too big for my monitor. the green is much richer in Photoshop. No embedded profile!

Thanks ...
to you all for your kindly comments.
@Andy The software is a german shareware tool from Tobias Hüllmandel http://www.tshsoft.de/index.html that was tested in the german Computer Magazin cīt 09/2005 and has a price about 35. With technically problems have I tried to point to problems with overlapping. The distortionis in this case, tree in wood, not architectural, is a fact of art wich I like.
@ All Iīve thought about to size down the pano to about screen size. But I decided to do it not. In real nature you canīt see this tree at once from this distance. So you have also to scroll your eys up and down and you can see also only a crop.
Like John I also enjoying to scroll in panos and find for myself maybe a crop that I like mostly.
Hope you can understand this sort of english.

I like these kind of format and think that is good idea and your choice to do that with tree...looks little bit strange these green color on the top of the tree...But I shoot recently one series in the forest very similar to this yours, and learn that is very hard to achieve a proper exp.value in the forest with usualy tracks of light behind the trees.
