The Cliffs Of Moher

At last the sun came out a bit and what a difference it made to the situation. This was taken on the last day in The Burren, Co. Clare from the top of the cliffs. These are really quite spectacular and on a sunny day make for a really great walk. At their highest point they are 230 meters high. Unfortunately this beauty has been marred with accidental deaths because of people going too near the edge on very windy days and have been blown over. This happened to an unfortunate woman last summer. Sadly the cliffs are also used by people who have chosen to end their own lives. It is a place of many contrasts and great beauty. If you ever come to Ireland this place is a must see.

That lense really does shine! A beautifully sharp and clear photo of a spectacular location. I love that steel blue of the sea. What post processing, if any did you use here Eugene?
Best wishes- Andy

This has got to be the clearest photo of these famous cliffs I've ever seen. Thanks for showing us, Eugene.

Gorgeous Eugene! The composition is so beautifully balanced and simple. The color is rich, but so natural. I agree that the picture is wonderfully clear and sharp.

Ruggedly beautiful
Great compo and exposure, Eugene. The hint of reflection on the ocean is a big plus IMO. The green a good counter to the overall monochromatic impression. Best wishes.

Mant thanks to all. I was so grateful that the sun came out so as I could capture these in their sunshine glory. I have some of the rainy/ cloudy day variety as well which I will eventually get around to.
Andy, I did very little with this in postprocessing. I took it in raw as I do with everything. As far as I remember I upped the exposure a little, pushed up the contrast all in ACR. then when I opened it in PSCS I used a curves adjustment and usm'd it and saved it in tiff. Then I downsized it for the web to 800x600, converted to sRGB and did another smaller usm for the web and voila!
Thanks again

I am so glad you were not using the 7-14 mm lens, or you might have been tempted to get closer!
