Inserting MFT image links into comments
Today, I posted a response to Eugene's request for help on discovering the URLs of MFT image documents (since the URLs are not displayed in the browser address bar since the site migration).
If you go to Eugene's image you will see the details. Since posting the instructions, I have discovered that the method many of you have been using - to make the URL work as a link in your comments - will still work. That's the method of using square brackets [ and ] and the pipe character | to code a link as follows [your link text|the URL]. So continue to use that method if you are comfortable with it. The instructions for discovering the URL, however, are still relevant to all users and you can find them at Eugene's image called Ringsend At Dusk. On the other hand, if you want to post links in your comments that include nifty pop-up descriptive text like this you may be interested to employ the full HTML method as I describe at Eugene's picture. IMPORTANT Notes: Whatever you do...
PostscriptIt's much easier to show how to format an HTML link than it is to describe it. After having copied the URL - for the image document that you want to link to - to the clipboard, paste it into a coded HTML link as shown below.

Ok this is the formula in your post Rob
a href="1xxx" title="2xxx"3xxx/aAnd this is what it translated into when I followed your instructions to create a link to an image called Rescue Remedy. Please note that I used the greater than and less than symbols in the actual work and used your intervention to reveal what I did.
a href=”1[http://myfourthirds.pixelcritic.com/document.php” title=”2Rescue Remedy”]3Rescue Remedy/aI noticed that in the example you used you had a number in the address link and that no such number was available to me in the address link at the image I went to nor in the Ringsend at dusk image when I went to it. I right clicked on the properties as directed and chose the address link and not the location one. Sorry to bother you with this. Please only reply if you have time for this. Its not the most important thing in the world but I do appreciate you putting the effort into it and the benefit that accrues to me as a result. If I have done something wrong here do please feel free to slap me on the wrist and give me one hundred lines. Cheers!

There's a much quicker way to copy the URL of a link or "live" photo than popping up the Properties box (i.e.; so long as you're looking at a linked version of the image such as the homepage thumbnail or the first display page). In Firefox, right-click the photo thumbnail and click "Copy Link Location", and in IE right-click and select "Copy Shortcut." So long as the photo is a hypertext link, this action will copy the linked URL to the clipboard, where you can paste it into your comment text using the methods you've described.

PS
If you change your shortcut/favorite to come to MFT via
http://myfourthirds.pixelcritic.com/Then the address bar works as expected. I think it is the re-direct that causes the address bar to not display the correct url.
You can then copy/paste from the address bar as per normal.

I believe Alan and Mario haven't completed the DNS transfer of the myfourthirds.com domain yet, which is why the original URL is presenting problems. Once this is done, the frames should properly resolve on refresh and URLs will show correctly in the address bar

Good to know!
