Black Canyon

Black canyon of the Gunnison, CO; I got here very late just before the sun set so was able to capture just a few shots of the fungi amidst the 'painted' rocks under the purple skies; the latter were very wild but unfortunately they formed behind me; I came back the next day but the midday light casted too much shadows on the rocks I wasn't too thrilled with the results; it's best to visit the canyon in the late PM imho from the south gate, and the reverse is true for the north gate

Purple!
I like the forground here, it really makes this shot. Its funny how the rocks go toward purple at sunset I noticed the same thing in some of my shots from the Badlands in South Dakota.I think maybe the sRGB seems to enhance this a bit. Reguards Charles

Colours!
What a fantastic range of colours! Was there any cropping done? How much JPEG compression did you apply before uploading? This picture could do with a little more sharpness IMHO.
