I'm not much of an animal shooter, but I like the expression of that one.

Be careful of your masking

I don't know if your monitor is calibrated properly but there is a lot of signs of poor masking around the bird. Other than that this is a great shot very direct and stong. If you throw a curve on the image and baseline it you will be able to see the affected areas.

Raptuous!

How did you do this Wolfgang? I think it's quite striking and the lighting is fantastic. You've certainly captured the essense of this predator!

Thank you

Matthew - you're right. On my monitor it was pitch black so I didn't notice, but the masking was indeed very poor. I took the liberty of fixing that and reposting the image.

Thanks for your comments.

I told you...

These kind of shots get everyone juicy! Beautiful work! Was this taken at some kind of animal park, is it in captivity or in the wild? Nice job with removing the background...that must have been really tricky. You should be proud.

Well, what can I say

I'm really overwhelmed by the reactions this one got. It's the second appearance of this guy on myfourthirds. He is also faetured in "Splash!" which I originally thought was the better picture (I have a faible for unusual viewpoints) - boy was I wrong...

There is very little post processing involved in this picture. I was shot at Nuernberg zoo (we don't have eagles flying through our frontyards here in germany :) in a big cage that was almost completely dark - except for a small, strong ray of light through the trees. So all I had to do was to make the already very dark background black (thanks to Matthew without clumsy blobs :D ) and sharpen a little.

Thank you all for your comments

NO SUBJECT

For this type of image it is very well done imo.
