God, I am so tired of corporations using sex and exploitation to sell product. And here they are lining right up to be the exploitees of the moment. Add to that my opinion that BMW has turned its entire line of gas guzzling toys for arrested adolescents into a series of bloated butt-ugly gas guzzling toys for arrested adolescents and you can understand if I don't find this photo in the least attractive. I guess this doesn't have much to do with the photo, but not possible to separate one from the other; this just seems like complicity.

Yeah, people have raped and killed and robbed each other always too, so I guess we'll just resign ourselves to that and be happy with all the pretty lights. Sorry, not buying the 'it's the way it is and always has been so get used to it' sop. We used to swing from trees and live in caves and carry spears too; we do have the capacity to change how we live. It doesn't change unless we change it. Not that this BMW rises to that level, but the cynical world view beneath it and the hapless acceptance of it is certainly at its core. It certainly invites thought!

Joni Mitchell's song jumped to mind when I saw this. I think it could be used in an MTV video for that song. Their faces look like various expressions on might see on Satan's face as he welcomes new assignees.

It's a thought-provoking photograph and it should INVITE discussion, even impassioned discussion is OK! There's content, intentional and unintentional, here, but there's also technique and talking about all of them is what MFT is about.
