Great shot.... the colour, the stillness. Very calming to look at. Beautiful.

Really evocative, not to say spooky. This looks ancient and evil like a place full of evil spirits and the colour palette accentuates this gloomy feel really well. Nice shot.

Now you have gone and done it! Tom, you have earned the name Swamp King. I give this to you in return for calling me the Ice Queen. I mean no harm, it is praise. This picture holds everything good. I look into it, and it pulls me deeper. I can stare at this for a long, long time. I could take a walk out back and find a swamp, but it does not look anything like this. Too much snow and what are those trees? (I am fairly certain they don’t grow in my climate) The reflections in the fg of the sky are magical. The light on the trees deep into the swamp adds depth. The plant growth on the surface of the water creates a mystical pattern. I can hear the peepers and the birds singing nature’s symphony. This picture is very nice.

I almost didn't post this one. I was undecided about cutting this on the first round as I looked through the Raws from that day's outing. It is right across the road from where I spent 45 minutes shooting swamp scenes, and I decided, well, I'm here, so why not, and took a few shots this way. Once I developed it, I loved it but I did not think it would fly on MFT, and more or less posted this impulsively after MFT came back online this morning.

So Robert, Nicholas, Adrian, and dee vee, I get home ten hours later and find your nice comments and it really means a lot to me, I too find these swamps eerie and beautiful. Perhaps Hollywood has portrayed swamps another way, but they are really very harmless.

Wait till you see the swamp shot I have of a man sinking in quicksand with snakes and spiders going after him! You folks will LOVE it!!!

Kathy, I missed your comment the first time. Welcome to the Great Dismal Swamp! (Yes, that is its real name), and it is across the road from #3. This is not the same swamp as #1 and #2.

Oh, and I also got a shot of a girl rescuing the guy sinking in the quicksand. ;)

Tom, wow, I really love those tree trunks. What a great shot of the swamp. I love those trunks so much, my brain seems to want to crop a bit off the bottom (esp that clump of leaf/twig debris at BL. Small matter, though. Oh, and the colors, lighting, and DOF are just excellent. (BTW, do I detect a bit of color noise?? But it doesn't really bother me; kind of gets absorbed by the texture of the trees.) An eerie, almost haunting shot, and quite beautiful.

Thank you, Elisabeth for your kind comment, and I am pleased that you like this one. (As for the noise, I'm sure it's there, but I won't tell anyone if you don't). ;)
