Roadside Rest Area

Roadside Rest Area
Copyright ©2004, Tim Maurice ¤

Somewhere in Colorado or Arizona I pulled into a roadside rest area. There was nothing there except a few empty parking spaces and a half full trash can. The temperature was over 90F. and there was no wind and no traffic on the road. The only sounds were the occasional pops of the exhaust system as the metal flexed with the changing temperature. It was truely in the middle of nowhere but beautiful just the same.

I can feel the heat coming off the monitor!

Great photo Tim. I love the colours and composition. The sky is just fantastic. Did you use a polerizer? I can feel the heat coming off the monitor! I like the way the bushes on the left bring your eye into the image. Overall very nice.

Best...

Color

Everything about this picture is completely natural, this is just the way it came out of the camera except for resizing and sharpening. No filters, nothing added or deleted. All colors natural. Who says the E-1 can't do a landscape?

Trip

I normally travel the West three times a year for a month at a time, tent camping the entire trip. I usually shoot over 1000 pictures a trip and the itinerarys often become rather intermingled since I tend to gravitate to camping sites that I know and like. That having been said, I usually do remember where each picture is taken but in some cases where the scenery is so similar to other scenery and there is no individually distinguishing marks, such as an animal that might jog my memory, I just forget. For those who havent't been in the West, there are thousands of miles of roads out there with scenery essentially identical to that shown in this picture. Western Colorado, Arizona and Utah all have a lot of this scenery and there is a smattering of it scattered about other States as well.
