This could have been one of his shots. Very nice juxtaposition of the modern grid pattern and the more ornate older building. I wonder how straightening the verticals would look (apart from a little false!)

Really like the subtle rays or reflections from another building onto the grid. Wish the reflected objects were darker or blurred.

Really nicely done, dee vee. I, too, like the juxtaposition of the old building reflecting on the new one. Very nice lighting, especially how it gradually gets darker as one's eyes move to the left. I wouldn't straighten the verticals... IMHO that'd probably ruin it.

Thanks All for the comments

Adrian... the convergent lines give a sense of height...i never thought of straightening the lines ...they look more natural as they are ...

Bruce ...you mean the old buildings? i prefer them sharp for they're the main subjects ;-))

Chris..no i won't for as they are, they look tall as if one were to look up

Cheers, ;-))

At first I thought it was a photo from Vaggelis indeed, but now I read it is a photot for Vaggelis and he appreciates your approach. I too like the juxtaposition and reflections.

Well...

...that you may not want to straighten the verticals is your call, and respected. But IMO it would hardly "ruin" the shot. To my mind it would improve it, to wit:

Different strokes...

thanks all for the comments

Vaggelis, Wiliam: yes, it could well be Vaggelis'

Ferd: thanks for the experiment ;-))

dee vee.... it shouldn't be just for Vaggelis but for all of us who have visited SF and to attract those who haven't been to one of the most beautiful cities in the U.S.

Different Strokes

I respect Ferd's opinion regardng the straightening, and he's *far* more talented photographically than I, but IMHO I don't like his straightened version very much. Yes, the verticals are "right" but now, to my eyes, the horizontals aren't parallel. The modern building now looks "twisted" or "warped" to me. An optical illusion, for sure, but that's how my eyes/brain interpret it. So, yes, different strokes for different folks, indeed! (Maybe Doro's "middle ground" might be okay, but frankly I think the original is just fine as-is.)

thanks Chris

for coming back to this ...believe me i've tried these alignments before i post any shot; if they look good and natural then i'll keep them, if not, i'd prefer not to; sometimes there're other undesireable distortions that creep in trying to stretch too much ; after all the world around us isn't perfect so imperfection could be a charm for this is art, not science imho ...Cheers, ;-))
