I had noticed this couple wandering around York one day, they appeared to me at least to be dressed for another century. Unfortunately I was supposed to be attending a wedding so felt unable to engage with them in any way.

However, I was staring through the viewfinder down this old passageway wondering if the bride might arrive this way and what would it look like if she did when they just happened to walk past.

Unfortunately I'm not convinced that it works as well as I'd hoped it had at the time. That is, I don't think they appear so bizarre as I felt they did in real life.

So I'm curious as to your reactions.

Good to hear from you again Chris. I think you're right about them not appearing bizarre which is a shame because they so obviously are. Maybe if they were a bit bigger? Maybe if the other people weren't in shot? Anyway, looking closely made me chuckle and it's good to see a shot from a place I know well instead of all these exotic locations. Hope to see a bit more from you soon.

Hey Chris, how they hangin?

I feel for you a bit with this one; the characters are great, the framing is good too, and so was your timing..... so lot's of things came together really nicely here...

... except those tossers that didn't get out of the frame!

Unfortunately, fro me there is just too much visual clutter just where you need simplicity for this shot to really shine.

So, nice, but no cigar..

How about a single malt unstead?

Best wishes- Andy

the presence of the other contemporary folks betray the antiquity of this scene ...a shame for these 2 alone could have made a real retro image back to the 1800s ....amusing shot!

They look like they're right out of a Dickens novel. As the others said, the "moderns" ruin the effect. Too bad! :-(

I might have really thought about chasing these two down. Such a unique opportunity. Have to agree with the previous comments, and wonder what a tighter crop would do to bring the focus more tightly on the couple. Don't people know you were taking a really really good photo and get out of the way (grin). Have a good day. gss

If not ...

some other people would distract this impression, it could have been a view through a time tunnel. Like it.

Best wishes,

Time tunnel indeed Horst. I don't know when the tunnel itself was built, but the building that it leads to behind me is a type of Guild hall built circa 1360.

Thanks for commenting.
