Prosper I (10)
I have to thank every one who is following this little series with all his comments and suggestions. It is very pleasing and helpful to read the different comments and suggestions. One of these should work here: After Robs suggestion I have added here a small stripe around the picture to bend the sky together :-)) The great white empty space in the middle here is intended and I´m very interested at the comments about this compo. BTW, have answered on #9 and have also a question about the compo of #9 Thanks again, best wishes,

No time to comment fully now (in fact I was just shutting down my computer for the night and stole a quick peek at MFT). But I, for one, LOVE the composition of this one. It might even be my favorite so far. Will have to revisit it tomorrow to see how I feel but at the moment it just knocks my socks off!

I have just watched your series as a slide show. It’s hard to pick a favourite, but if I am being forced I think I would choose no 2, 3 and/or this. I love the splash of strong colours you have on most of the pictures in this series, but then I also like this one. Good subject for a series and not the kind of subject we see too often on photo sites.
Well – this was not much of a comment. Just wanted to tell you that I’ve seen your series and like it a lot! Keep them coming! :-)

I have been watching these Horst, as yet have not commented on any. They are so strong that I am still digesting them. This is wonderful. (they all are) I did not see it before the thin line was included, but I like it. What gets me here is the "mystery" behind the steam. The compo has me headed right into that door, inviting me into the mystery behind it. Why lies behind. . . .
Such a great series.

This is fantastic Horst. The white space works very well in my view as it has enough detail peeping through to make it much more than just blankness. I like the angle of the gun thing and the half glimpsed objects behind. The red lever is also brilliant.

Horst - as part of this series it works great. Viewed by itself it would be probably a bit confusing. I would not mind a bit more detail (and maybe density) of the cylinder shaped whatever in the BG. The white MG is just fine - I notice that my kids have smeared my screen terribly :) Klaus

Back for another visit, Horst, with a few more minutes to type. :-) The appeal of this one hasn't diminished overnight. In a very uncluttered image like this with a predominance of negative space, it seems that every part is magnified in terms of its effect (or lack thereof, in a less successful image). All works brilliantly here, I think. For me, there is sort of a mental test I apply to many images: if an artist were to paint the scene, would he/she choose these elements and their arrangement? Are there extraneous parts that a painter would not have included? This passes the test and then some. The bits and pieces we see through the steam are neither too much nor too little; the colors are as wonderful as ever (agree with Adrian about the red lever). The door to me is one of the best parts of this, both in terms of the compo (anchoring the LH corner, balancing the RH corner, helping to form that diagonal, etc.,) but also because open doors really stir up the imagination and help transport us from one part of the image to another. The door here is almost spooky--I love it!
While I'm here, I just wanted to add that this has been one of the most interesting and well-done series I've seen in quite some time. As Edwin suggested over a year ago, I'd love for there to be a way to rate an entire series. I might even like to see a separate HOF for series (with perhaps quarterly HOF winners rather than monthly). The annual photo essay competition is good, but other series along the way never seem to get their proper due. A good series seems to me to be the holy grail of photography. It is much more than just a string of images. It's a complete novel, an entire symphony, a fleshed out exploration of specific ideas, techniques, and themes that create such a satisfying whole. Viewing a good series, I feel not only more enlightened about the subject matter, but (more importantly) about the particular viewpoint and expression of the photographer and *his* relation to the subject.
Well, enough blathering. This has been quite a first half. You really have 20 of these?! I'll be quite sad when the series over.

Thank you so much ...
Elisabeth, Caroline, Kathy, adrian and Klaus for taking time to comment this image.
@Elisabeth: Thanks a lot so far, as always I´m very curious about your comment.
@Caroline: Thank you for the great honor to get a comment from you. A highlight seeing you posting here. Glad you like the series and I can agree with your favorites, so far (means my personal favorite comes later :-))
@Kathy: I too have not always the time to comment on every picture. Glad you like the series and this image. And glad this "mystery" works :-))
@adrian: Glad you like this compo. The gun with the red lever is for sure a main element :-))
@Klaus: This picture is for sure less real but more "mind feed" and a piece for phantasy :-)) BTW, you should take / process more highkeys to watch the current state of your monitor :-))
Thanks again to all of you for watching this series and commenting. Best wishes,

Thank you Elisabeth ...
for your very thoughtful comment. Our comments must have criss crossed in space ... :-))
You have hit all nails (as usual :-)) A short time (very short) I´ve been tempted to cut out all around here without the gun. But then I decided to render this image as you see it for all the reasons you have mentioned. Of cos I love the door. This image and some of the series sometimes look at me as "industriell poesy" if that is possible.
Thanks also for your nice words about this series. But I think there are some more great series on MFT.
Thanks again, best wishes,
