Scarborough - High Tide

I took some photos like this from this spot 2 weeks ago but forgot to use noise reduction and the results were terrible. I'm a little more pleased with this one.

I am of course familiar with the spot where you have taken this (it's from that road that leads along to the Spa is it not) but I still find it interesting as I don't recall being there with the tide so high.
Nice effect with the retreating water.
Yes a welcome addition to the folder, though I'd be interested to see a different take on this, perhaps with a little more punch in the foreground.

i like this Adrian , a more contrasty BW from you ; the tide at the bottom and the cotton clouds on top did it for me ...cheers ;-))

Wow! This is brilliant Adrian. I love your composition. My eyes start at the bottom right corner and follow that excellent retreating water to the bottom left corner, then up along the wall, and finally across to the edge of the cliffs on the right.
I particularly love the FG with the retreating waters and those stalks sticking out. I had no hesitation giving this a 10. Regards, Jeremy

Thanks Chris. It was a great night and there are more to come! I will try the fg suggestion later but I'm fairly happy with this as it is. Thanks to you too Dee Vee, glad you liked it. Jeremy, you have given a very good critique of ther composition. Thanks for that. Thanks Shelley (you too Andrej, but I'd like to hear your views).

Clouds
Adrian:
I think this is really very well done, It is remarkable that you could shoot with a 2 sec. shutter with out a tripod.
The clouds are overall quite good. But, do notice a faint pink tint in the clouds where the light breaks through. Perhaps ths is your intention...of a problem with my monitor.
Best wishes...
joe

Adrian, I have to admit I glanced at the thumbnail without feeling too drawn to this image, and on top of that I had this feeling from looking at the foreground that the image would be fairly soft. Glad I opened it, though, to find I was utterly wrong on both counts (not to mention feeling chagrined because I know you always post very high quality images and I should have known better).
I find this really exceptional in terms of the lovely sharpness and details--especially in the buildings, etc., along the horizon, but also in the foreground. (I LOVE the foreground.) Also glad that you included the path at far left and the conversion is really, really nice. (Your conversions always strike me as being very elegant--so effective but not the least bit overstated.)
A lovely image, Adrian. If I were to point to a single photographer's images to point out the capabilities of the 11-22 lens, I wouldn't hesitate to direct them to your MFT images!

Very very nice photo, a lot of action to look at with a great conversion and compostion. Overall i feel there is something out of place in the picture but can't really note what. Maybe the lack of light greys+tone is making me think this...

The FG is truly great and the BG surprises with sharpness and detail. The conversion is absolutely flawless and consistent throughout the picture. For me there is just one element slightly missing, which is a clear focal point, maybe as a counterweight to the heavy dark area on the LHS. This is a minor point though since you are not a painter and have to take what's there. And in that respect I don't think one could have done better.

Thanks for that Joe. I can't see the pink myself. As for the tripod I forgot to tick the box! Elisabeth, I am very grateful for those comments and glad you have faith in me. I must say, actually, that I have already directed people towards your images so "back at you" with the compliment. Valter, maybe Klaus has put his finger on what is missing. Klaus - that is a very good point actually. The foreground does balance things a bit but for perfection it does need something on the right.

You should be more than just "a little more pleased." This is a marvelous image. Love the tiny grasses popping out of the sand at the bottom. And, of course, the clouds and wave action are very beautiful. Well balanced composition. A real eye catcher!
