Cal Poly ranked player serving to Stanford gal at ITA championship at Stanford U campus; One of the few times i shot with long tele + JPG to be able to capture the full motion; JPGs are not too PS friendly though so I had to be very gentle with them

so you are going to photograph for sports illustrated next eh? Everything is so in place, from the shadow to the racquet to the placement of the feet. Also I like the subdued color as it adds tension imo. great shot. geo

ps. did she get the match?

george shaw ¤1 at 19:47 EDT on 2007-Nov-02 [Reply]

thanks Robert / George ...

George : she 's a lowly ranked player on the outer court but at least she has good forms ...i didn't stay long enough to see the score ...too many matches and i was only interested in the top players matchwise that is ;-))

Fantastic sports shot deevee. You got the tension of the serve captured really well.

thanks Eugene / Pascal

merci Pascal., that'd be some match; here at pro tournaments they don't allow dslrs , you can only bring dinky cameras; the e3 should be perfect for sports w its fast AF; enjoy the match ;-))

Dee, you certainly knew what you were doing. It is obvious that you understand a lot about tennis. This is going to be a nice kick serve (altough if a want to be critical she stretched her legs a bit too early given that the racket is still where it is?). The pp treatment is quite unique too but her face seems to me a bit too pale?

Where's the ball?? :-)

That would have been the "kers op de taart". Otherwise an excellent shot, must not have been easy!

Great photo dee vee. Love the composition and the lighting. Regards, Jeremy

thanks all for the comments

Klaus: based upon the motion i think it's more likely a flat serve since the ball was slightly in front of her , with a kick serve, her back would be arching more since the ball would have to be thrown slightly behind her ...cheers ;-))

Rainier, it'd take more space had i included the ball or waited until the point of contact ....cheers ;-))
