I had to stalk a herd of young mule deer for a bit to get this shot with the Great Sand Dunes National Park in the background. This is one of my favorite places (located in Colorado at the base of the Sangre de Christo Mountains in the San Luis Valley). It consists of 35 square miles of sand dunes up to 75 feet tall with one of the world's few "reverse" flowing streams.

I too like the BG against the trees. Like animals in more normal activity when photographed.

Dunes

John:

The Dunes are among my favorite places too.

I think your capture is well worth the effort I can easily imagine. I like the composition too.

But, the colors look a bit weak, lacking in contrast, to me. Perhaps, a little tweaking with "hue-saturation" in PS or equivalent could remedy this.

Best wishes...

THX ALL! Joe - those colors are actually tweaked - was shooting in low light and shadows, feel like a fraud if I pop it any more - HA! Best - john
