A grey overcast day today, so what better to shoot than the local naval base? (Hopefully
this won't result in my door being kicked in at 5am tomorrow by a SWAT team.)

I've shot a hundred frames now and am getting the hang of the camera - it's a huge step up
from my P&S Canon Powershot S330, especially since I've never owned a film SLR!

I wouldn't have tried this with a big lens!

John: I don't think I'd have been game to take this photo with the big tuna on a tripod...

NO SUBJECT

I agree! Nice grays. Next time, be very very careful not to be spotted taken pictures! LOL!

an off note - My first digital cam was a P&S Powershot A70, and I still love it! Compared with my friends' digicams, this mini-3mp cam gives the best quality (and i'm referrring to sony, panasonic & oly counterparts). I just had the E300 (Jan 1, '05) as my first dSLR and I'm loving it more as days pass, even with all the bashing it gets on DP review.

Mabuhay from the Philippines!!! By the way, I checked on the members list, I'm the only one from the Philippines so far... poor me, LOL!

Canon P&S cameras

I feel the same way about my Powershot S330 as you do about the A70 (and they're similar cameras in many ways, I think - I only opted for the S330 because I was going to take it hiking). See my page http://danny.oz.au/travel/equipment/camera/powershot.html

I look forward to seeing some Philippines photos -- whereabouts are you? (One of the people I live with was a human geographer specialising in Philippines studies.)

Danny.
