I'm not happy with this yet (there is an alternative version to compare), but I can't afford any more time on it at the moment.

There's an obvious alternative crop, somewhere in the middle to the left of the path, using the LHS, but I quite like the way the three horizons (if you see what I mean) converge on the right. There are some overlap errors, which I've left in because they're not apparent at this resolution. There is however a strange looking destraction, which I perhaps should get rid of. I've left it in because it's on one of the original shots, which there are four of.

Hi Chris

I prefer this one to the other. I prefer the light and the colour in the trees. In relation to the crop idea, I think anither crop is to crop on the right side where the rhs of the path meets the bottom of the frame. That way brings your eye into the image via the path into the centre of the image where water meets reflected sky and trees. Just a thought. Nice image though. I will hold off rating this, seeing as you're not happy with it yet. I look forward to your next version.

Best...

Eugene

definitely this one

Not sure about a crop. The 900 pixel width limit hurts this image, I think: if it were 1280 wide I think there'd be less temptation to crop...

(I really think the size limit here should be width x height

You've got it spot on John. Yes the other one is truer to what I saw, which is probably why I prefer it, but I do understand why people would prefer this one. Which, as you shrewdly pointed out, is exactly why I included this one!

Nick, I don't know how well you know "the lakes" but for me a day like this is very much about the sky plus I don't suppose there are that many images taken there on a day when you have to shelter your lense from the rain. Somebody has to do it! ;-)

Please also see my reply to John. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

The Path

Hi Eugene

It's interesting to hear the differing views on the path!

I may well come back to this, but I have some spooky abberations I want to post first, from the same weekend.

Thanks also to John M and Danny for taking time to comment.
