Dylan 1

I asked a good friend to do some modeling for me, I have used him before and posted and someone thought he looked like a dyke... not what I was trying to get across obviously. For this shoot I took Dylan to a rough looking alleyway rich with texture and colour. The clothes are a little more "me" than him but I think they suit him ok. I used a ring flash for a little fill light and used a 5 foot white reflector to get my direction lighting... so graciously held a miscreant bystander who wanted to watch what I was doing so I put him to work.
I think these are more successful than my other run with Dylan.
A little bit of tonal digital work was done here also my reflection from his aviators has been removed. A slight and scattered vignette also applied.

hi matt, (another pic in your very own style. i saw the thumb and i knew its a barnes) like this shot more than the second. i m curious of dylan s own clothes style ;) maybe u lightend (vignettet) the wall left near dylan a bit to much? or is it the natural stone or light? regards michael

Hello Matthew. You know I love your style, so forgive me if I'm a little critical on this critique. (I feel like the "arm chair Quarterback here.) For a portrait with a subdued background, I think the white jacket and white shirt is a little overpowering. Perhaps on a high key setting, this would work, but here it doesn't. Dylan's pose, with his right leg propped against the wall gives me the feeling that he is an amputee. The control of lighting/exposure from head to toe (I mean knee) is done very well, yet I would prefer to see the light falling on the wall on the left side of Dylan, a little more subdued, as on the other side (it just doesn't look natural). I assume that the reflection in the corner of Dylan's sunglasses, his right lens, is from your lighting equipment. Regardless, I think this should be removed in post processing.
Being a rookie compared to the talent I've seen in you, I hope I'm not too out of line or off the wall. 'Just my honest opinion.
Best regards,
