All through high school my biggest thing was SKA... My parents listen to stuff like Madness, The Specials and Bad Manners so I was introduced to real good stuff early in my life, For about four years my wardrobe consisted of black skinny ties, mod suits and pork pie hats.... and about as much checker as I could cram in! I dug up some stuff and found a cool background and decided to shoot a little homage.

Not sure about this stuff then a couple of tracks that are a must do! Madness - Razor Blade Alley The Specials - Ghost Town Bad Manners - Inner London Violence

skankin

I find the image a bit static, it seems to me the guy could maybe be bouncing around more to the 2-tone sound...

FYI: before the 80's ska-wave, ska was popular in the sixties too. Most prominent performer of those days is Desmond Dekker, go to the record store NOW to get his greatest hits CD, you won't regret it. (else it makes an excellent gift for your parents hahaha) I especially like his song "reggae recipe". The track "Israelites" is the only reggae song ever to hit nr. 1 in the USA, even Bob Marley couldn't do that...

I like the songs "why?" and "rat race" by the Specials myself. ;-) Lourens

I love these two companion images. The silhouettes are cool as is your taste in clothes. I love the Specials as well and ghost town is a definite must alright. Lourens is right too about Desmond Dekker - a cool dude. I think its great when young people get exposed to their parents music and parents get exposed to the music their children/young people listen to. Compared to what I knew about music when I was 16 my son is a walking encyclopoedia on music. Your image is a nice homage. I notice the camera for sale notice is gone from the front page - I hope that might mean you're hanging around for longer :-)

I don't have any profound comments about this very well done image, except that it works well and I like it!

It's not Just

that it is a fantastic picture to look at, it's not just that it is imaginative, it's not just that it is technically excellent, it's not just that there is an attention to detail in the composition that is out of this world, it is that it is all of those and more that I just haven't got round to working out yet.

Thanks for setting a standard.
