Wow

Jean-Michel, this is fascinating, great composition. At the same time I find it has a humorous touch.

Well done!

Thats a cool shot. This lens is not easy to use but its a winner when you get it right, and this is a winner.

You got it!

A perfect angle for maximum DoF. Nice hairy legs! LOL! Did you do any USM on this after resizing?

Not an Expert

I looked at this image and was not impressed, the image was not sharp, the DoF was very limited and the sense of insect environment was limited. Then I read the comments and thought oh! I must be missing something.

So I thought I would go and look at some other pictures of insects in order to 'gen' up a bit on this kind of photography.

Then I saw the link to Olypix and so I went there. Well I found some very beautiful images excellently presented and, as far as I can tell, technically excellent. So using the best of those as a benchmark, I stick to my original assessment of this image.

I agree with Rex on this one. The composition and color are nice, but the limited depth of field damages the presentation. The entire insect should be in relative sharp focus in my opinion. I also looked at your web site, paying attention to your other insect pictures. Most all of them are excellent. My score also relates to the quality of your other work.

I like the idea and what the picture is of, but i think the shot itself could use some work in terms of Dof.

Very nice selective focus. The fly looks as if it's about ready to jump out at us.
