These are two wild turkeys I spotted on the side of the road up in the NC mountains. I never realized they could be so colorful - I was lucky to have my camera handy - they didn't stick around very long. I used the EPL1 and 14-150 lens.

A very colorful variety of turkey, the ones we have around here don't have that colorful of wing feathers.

they're more like glorified pheasants to me ... the colors of the plumage do glow in the bright sun!

Thanks everyone. This was the first time I had seen wild turkeys "up close". As a matter of fact, these two were in a flock of 19 all walking across the road. By the time I got the car stopped, window down, and camera out, they were already heading into the brush. These two lingered for a moment and I snapped off 8 or 10 shots. Some of the colors were almost iridescent - surprisingly beautiful birds:-)
