THEY shut the road through the woods, seventy years ago. Weather and rain have undone it again,
And now you would never know There was once a road through the woods

Ah, a 'walk through the woods' ....and a quite adventurous one, I'd bring white pebbles to show me my way back in that dense woods; it reminds me of the many trails around my neck of the woods so to speak ...cheers ;-)

Walks in English woods aren't ever VERY adventurous 8^). With only one or two exceptions you can walk out of any of them in ten minutes. The old road went between the stumps of the oak trees which blew down in the hurricane in 1987. Old in this case means pre-Roman.

These road may not go through long stretches of forest, but they are very charming anyway. I've heard of some of them being closed for teh public, but I thought people in the UK were more and more claiming them back as well?

Our wretched throwback Finance Minister is planning on selling them to his mates.

Like the low light here... suggests a very comfortable place for a walk..

Thanks. I made a feathered mask for the lighter area and the path and then put an orange filter and a red filter layer over the rest to take the green out of the shadow areas. I was trying for an old Agfa-type feel.

Selling public property like forest is just wrong. People need forests for hiking, mountain biking, educating children, ... can't replace that with anything else. And once they're sold, you'll never get them back.
