Thanks Chris - you'll probably get tired of all the future train posts, but I took a lot of images on my "Railfan Weekend" in Cass, West Virginia. Cass was a mill town and the locomotives were used to bring logs down off the mountain. It operated from 1900 to 1960. :-)

DV, there are actually five working Shay locomotives, one working Hessler, and one Climax being restored. What great photo subjects - hope everyone doesn't get bored with the future posts. Cheers

Impressive scene Doug. How are you liking the EM-5? If you are using it with the regular four third lenses with an adapter I was wondering how well it worked regarding speed/focus.

Thanks Charles. These were the first images I've taken with the E-M5. Youd can see that it takes wonderful pictures, but I'm not comfortable yet. I've only used one original 4/3 lens (the 9 - 18) and the focus works fine, just noticeably slower. Most of the shots on this trip were with the E-PL3 (the M5 has a problem with spare batteries - can't find them anywhere) and I have several spares for the little E-PL3. Maybe some Hong Kong E-bay knock off's will work for a while. Cheers

Bob, when they all started moving at the same time, the smoke and steam covered up half the locomotives and the sky. The sound was fantastic with all the whistles going at the same time. Great stuff! :-)

Congratulations on getting the E-M5. I'm finding the four thirds 9-18mm focuses just fine ansd quick enough on my E-M5. A fine image. Great detail.

Chris, I really like the new E-M5, even though I've only taken twenty or thirty shots with it. I also tried it with the new Sigma 30mm - almost instantaneous focus. I can tell I'm going to really like this camera, once I get used to it. I love having the EVF available, evn though I still compose a lot of images on the LCD. Can you find spare batteries for it? Nothing available around here or at any of the major stores. I hate to order from Hong Kong but I might have to. Cheers.
