I began photography over 20 years when my mum bought me a Praktica SLR for my 21st. I didn't even want a camera. "What's this" was my surprised and rather ungrateful response. Soon though, it became an obsession.
Aspergic, obsessive, compulsive, reclusive, uncommunicative, intense, tempestuous, exclusively me.
I have decided to junk all my cameras and photograph exclusively with the iPhone 4S and sometimes the Olympus EP-2. All of the photos on this site are processed on the iPhone or iPad 2. No computer and no Photoshop was used or will be used - EVER! Far too much photoshopping is done.
I don't have the opportunity to travel to exotic far-flung places, so I have to settle for my back yard and try and make the most of what I have. Luckily for me that back yard contains some of the best rugged landscapes in the UK, that being the hills and mountains of Wales. These majestic peaks are something special to me. Moody, dramatic, oft dank and dark, enshrined in mist, here I can be alone and away from the noise of Humanity. Cathartic and liberating.
I try and make my pictures echo my moods, sullen, brooding and dark as they are.
My pictures are about the landscapes of Wales, the Mountains of Wales, the tempestuos and tumultuos ever changing seasons, the Wye Valley and sometimes about the bits we Humanoids leave behind.
The mountains of Wales is like a red headed Irish gypsy girl, wild and free. |
